KMNZ has a new original song, Synchronizer, and for longtime fans the producer credit is the real headline here: it’s Moe Shop, the French producer and Tokyo-based DJ who gave KMNZ their breakout second single back in 2019. Seven years later, they’re back in the studio together, and this time it’s the full current lineup — LITA, TINA, and NERO — behind the mic.
A Reunion Seven Years in the Making
Moe Shop’s history with KMNZ goes back to Augmentation, the 2019 track that became one of the group’s defining early singles and helped establish the sound they’d build on for years afterward. Since then, KMNZ has been through a lot of change — original member LIZ graduated at the end of 2023, and the group moved into its current three-member era with LITA, TINA, and NERO starting with 2024’s comeback single “REVERSE.” Bringing Moe Shop back into the fold for Synchronizer feels like a deliberate callback, pairing the group’s newer chapter with the collaborator who helped shape one of its earliest ones.
Written by the Group Themselves
The lyrics and MC work on Synchronizer are credited to KMNZ directly, with Moe Shop handling composition, arrangement, and mixing. That combination — the group’s own voice on the pen, an outside producer building the sonic architecture around it — has been a consistent part of how KMNZ approaches its discography, and it means the track carries their perspective even with someone else’s fingerprints all over the production.
Where This Fits in KMNZ’s Recent Run
Synchronizer lands after a steady stretch of singles from the current lineup — “OPENER,” “POSSE,” and “Moon Engine” among the most recent — that’s kept KMNZ consistently active since the group’s reset. Each of those has leaned into different corners of their sound, and slotting Moe Shop’s dance-driven production into that lineup gives this one a slightly different energy than what’s come immediately before it.
The Team Behind the Visuals
The music video comes from illustrator Ken Sougen (研そうげん), with movie work handled by Nemu (ねむ) and PPRPS (ペペロペス), and vocal recording by Yuhi Sumino (澄野祐飛). It’s a full team effort built to match a track that’s meant to be as much a visual statement as a musical one.
