Iseri (宓) has dropped her new original song Po Jian (破繭) Unrestricted, and the most striking thing about it isn’t just the track itself — it’s that she wrote it. Lyrics, composition, lead and backing vocals: all hers. For a release that arrives tagged as a debut, leading with a fully self-penned original is about as confident an opening statement as a VTuber can make.

What ‘Po Jian (破繭) Unrestricted’ Sounds Like

The production, helmed by Carnival Su Pin-Jia (蘇品嘉) — who also arranged the track and plays electric guitar — gives the song a full-band weight rather than a purely electronic frame. tetsuyanao holds down the bass, EAjRock handles drum programming along with the mix, mastering and overall sound direction, and the result is a dense, polished rock arrangement that leaves plenty of room for Iseri’s voice at the front. Her backing vocals, arranged with Dan Hsueh (薛詒丹), add layers without ever burying the lead melody.

The Meaning Behind ‘Po Jian (破繭)’

The title says a lot. Po jian (破繭) literally means breaking out of the cocoon, and the song’s own description frames the theme perfectly: the world keeps pushing us to become flawless and choose the path where nothing can go wrong — but if life has no standard answers, then the wrong turns and clumsy scars might just be the true shape of a life. That’s a thesis statement, and the song is built to carry it. For a first original, choosing honesty over polish-as-message is a smart instinct.

Iseri’s Debut Original and the Team Behind It

The release comes via Meridian Project (子午計畫), who handled executive production, with illustration by Meichuan (煤川), art direction from Ilian (伊蓮), and motion design by DDD. Recording took place at Ultraviolet Recording Studio (紫外線錄音室) with engineer Narsil (維尼), and Ichii (莓) joins on backing vocals. It’s a Taiwanese production team through and through, and the MV’s art direction gives the track a distinct visual identity to match.

Why This Release Matters

A debut is a gamble no matter how you slice it, but betting on your own writing is the version of the gamble that pays off long-term. With 128K views and a healthy like ratio already, Po Jian (破繭) Unrestricted is finding its audience fast. If this is where Iseri starts, the cocoon-stage label isn’t going to fit for long.
