  • Isekaijoucho Covers Kenshi Yonezu’s ‘IRIS OUT’ and Makes It Sound Like It Was Always Hers

Entry 113 in ヰ世界情緒 (Isekaijoucho)‘s cover series lands today, and it’s a big one. She’s chosen IRIS OUT by 米津玄師 (Kenshi Yonezu) — and if you know Isekaijoucho’s voice and you know this song, you already understand why this works so well.

IRIS OUT: The Original and Why It’s Such an Interesting Pick

IRIS OUT was released in September 2025 as the opening theme for Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc — and it’s one of the more unnerving things 米津玄師 (Kenshi Yonezu) has put out in recent years. Yonezu said he kept the Reze scenes from the original manga open constantly as he worked on the song, and that obsessive focus shows. It’s a compact, intense track — barely two and a half minutes — with a frantic, almost panicked energy running through it. Distorted production, a vocal performance that teeters on the edge of losing control. It’s a song about being helplessly consumed by feeling. For a film about a bomb girl who makes you fall in love with her and then blows you up, it fits perfectly.

It’s also exactly the kind of emotionally raw, slightly unhinged material that ヰ世界情緒 (Isekaijoucho) was made for.

Isekaijoucho’s Vocal Performance on IRIS OUT

Isekaijoucho has one of the most distinctive voices in the KAMITSUBAKI STUDIO roster — breathy and fragile on the surface, with a darkness underneath that she knows exactly how to use. On IRIS OUT she leans into that contrast fully. The original Yonezu vocal has a frantic quality; Isekaijoucho’s version is more contained, more inward — like the desperation has turned into something quieter and more dangerous. It doesn’t feel like a cover trying to replicate the source material. It feels like a completely different person having the same breakdown in a different room.

Mix by $KIYAKI$KI keeps the audio intimate and close — the right call for a vocal this delicate. Illustration by 𝘻𝘪𝘳𝘰_ carries the muted, atmospheric visual tone that Isekaijoucho’s cover series is known for.

Why This Cover Matters for ヰ世界情緒

ヰ世界情緒 (Isekaijoucho) is one of the founding virtual singers of 神椿スタジオ (KAMITSUBAKI STUDIO), and also a core member of V.W.P alongside 花譜 (KAF), 理芽 (RIM), 春猿火 (Harusaruhi), and 幸祜 (KOKO). Her solo cover series has always been a window into her personal taste — and picking IRIS OUT says something. This is a song about emotional overwhelm, about feelings that exceed your ability to contain them. That’s territory Isekaijoucho has always understood instinctively.

She also has a new EP out — 幻視録 (Genshiroku), released February 2026 — if this cover sends you looking for more of her original work. Start there.
