Kanae (叶) has released the official Music Video for アイ (Ai), the lead track off his debut full album 藍 (Ai/Indigo), which came out back in February. The song itself first went up as a pre-release single in December 2025, so this MV is the visual capstone to a rollout that’s been building for months.

A Two-Sided Album, One Lead Track

藍 is built as a genuine concept album split across two discs: Disc 1 (あ盤) portrays Kanae from the outside, the version of him people see on stage, told in third person; Disc 2 (い盤) flips to his own first-person perspective. Ai leads Disc 1, and pulling the “outward-facing” half’s opening statement from a songwriter with as much mainstream pedigree as this one carries real weight.

Saeki youthK, who wrote, composed, and arranged the track in full, has written for major J-pop acts including SixTONES and Snow Man — a songwriter working well outside the usual VTuber-music circuit. Bringing in someone with that kind of major-label credit list for the album’s lead single says a lot about how seriously this project was treated from the outset.

A Full Team Behind the Album

The album’s other credits stack up just as deep — contributions from Suisou (水槽), Haruno (春野), Seikatsu wa Wasurete (生活は忘れて), Galileo Galilei, Karasuya Sabou (烏屋茶房), Yuri Kuriyama (栗山夕璃), sukoppu (すこっぷ), and kz, with longtime music director Yuki Waga (和賀裕希) overseeing sound production across the whole record. That range of names, spanning Vocaloid-scene veterans and commercial J-pop writers alike, gives 藍 a genuinely varied palette across its two discs.

Why the MV Matters Now

Landing the MV months after both the single and the full album gives Ai a kind of second life — a chance to put a visual identity on a song that’s already had time to settle in with listeners, rather than front-loading everything into a single release week.
